Longshot
Grandpa Rip gave us
a copper roof low flat
and bluey green
and when I climb
up the ladder that
I unhooked and
pulled down
I’m going up into the
can’t stand up in it roof
space where we’ve got
to be careful not to stand
between the joists because
you’ll go through the ceiling
it’s only plasterboard
somethings are close
at hand things we need
like suitcases or
cardboard boxes full of
dalia bulbs
Daddy’s paintings are stacked
against each other
leaned against the beams
there’s the castle old
