Fancy dress
little smudgy greasepaint sticks
smear a bit like lipstick
my birthday party fancy dress
Mum dressing me as a gypsy
the dressing up box
big old cardboard box
crammed with costume bits and pieces
long ago Mum and Dad
dressed as cowboys
never occurs to me
until opening the front door
she dressed me as a girl
